LOTS AND LOTS OF TOMATOES !!!

By the grace of the Almighty, this season, we witnessed a bumper harvest of tomatoes !!
sounds funny right?? :)
Since ours is the 'corner-house' of the street ( infact, ours is the one from where the whole of sector 17 starts), there is an availability of an extra ground area - which amma and appa ( and maali uncle of course!) have converted it into a productive vegetable-garden.
The tomato plot is not a big one. As usual the trio after 'seed-ing' prayed and hoped for a 'good' output but none of them expected this HUGE output :). All thanks to God.
To say that amma was excited is an understatement.
We collected 'kilos' of tomatoes...most were the 'desi-tamatars'- small-round-dull in colour but highly tangy. 

 
I wont be wrong if i say that my dear mom was high on a 'tomato- distributing' spree :)
The first round of collection ( nearly 2 or 3 baskets like the pic above) was  fondly given to members of our  'Big Family' ( church).
The second collection -  amma used them to make tomoto pickle !
Third- to our neighbours and dad's colleagues.
And with the collections that followed, mom packed the 'toms' in plastic bags - each bag contained atleast a kilo- and happily distributed them to our milk-man, tiffin -bhaiya, garbage-cleaning bhaiya, newspaper uncle, electrician bhaiya, beggars ( they were mighty glad), municipal office labourers and grocery shop uncle. 
Huufff... i hope i dint miss out any one :):) 
Alright, mom really has got  a big heart!
I even joked to my brother that soon mom will be known and called as 'tamatar-waali aunty' in our neighbourhood!!
Mom made sure not to waste a single 'tom' -she strictly beleives that food should not be wasted,especially by christians- and so she figured out ways to use in every way possible- she made tomato pickles, tomato chutneys, tomato rasam, tomato rice, tomato curry......(after a week, i really tot i ll get some kind of  tomato-phobia )....

Acc to my mom, approx 30 kilos of toms have been distributed .All thanks to God.

                          

And guess what.... there are still more to come!!!!

 

 

Am sure you agree with me.... We did have a BUMPER  crop of tomatoes! :)
