AUNTY..YOU LL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART...

I woke up to the beep sound from my cellphone, alerting a received text. With sleepy eyes i touched the 'click' icon. The text was from my old friend and it was as follows:

BACAS* girls hostel warden Mrs.Salomi passed away around 12:30 in the night....please pray for the bereaved family, specially her children.
* BACAS- BISHOP APPASAMY COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCE
whatt!!??
Now widely awake, sat bolt upright @once called my friend ( who sent me the text).
Is it true??? i asked in shock.
The truth struck me real hard....i was hurting inside. My eyes were fighting tears.... A flash of memories attached with my dear warden started floating in front of me....
  • I was late on the very first day of hostel admission, i remember she greeted me; a straight-out-of school- nervous girl, with motherly warmth.
  • The way she would frequently look after us when we were in our first year....she made sure that we were not home-sick.
  • My home being very far from the place i studied , i used to stay in hostel along with a couple of north-east friends for the short hols..... aunty would also stay with us, @times make us some snack and will see that we don't get lonely.
  • I remember, aunty loved watching cricket....and few of us 'cricket-lovers' would sit with aunty whole night watching the game . In those nights, aunty would shed off the warden cloak off her n be just like us 'cricket fans'
  • She would lead us in hostel prayers.....every evening
  • aunty leading us during prayer time.....
  • The common room gets very much similar to a fish market ( well..tats wat she always said ) during roll-calls...yet she managed to tame us , every single evening
  • DURING ROLL CALLS......ALL GIRLS CHATTING-VATTING
A FISH MARKET ?? DEFINITELY

FINALLY....AFTER TAMING US...GOES THE ROLL-CALL
  • Aunty was really cool too..... while we celebrate hostel birthdays...
she would come and pray for the birthday girl,

then after cutting the cake...

she would take the lead to smear the cake on d girls face...
oh wat wonderful days they were
  • There were number of days when our actions made her 'the Hitler warden aunty '... the girls were really wild, except some. There were days when me and my room-mates were grounded by her for many things like coming late from hostel, getting late while going to college, keeping room tidily untidy, making juniors sing in our rooms, shouting n singing in the bathrooms and many like those....
I miss those days...so memorable and without aunty it wouldn't have been possible....Hostel life would have been utterly incomplete without her.
Salomi aunty was of small stature but behind that small body was a woman who patiently guided and guarded batches and batches of young girls. She was a loving counselor  a motivator, a strict mentor and guide...She was a wonderful lady .

Oh aunty ...it hurts badly to know that you are no more......You are and will always be tightly attached to our cherished memories. I was very lucky to be in the hostel where you were the warden....Only consolation is that You will be in Heaven.

This is the least i could do for you...

Dear Aunty.... We will miss you.
